WPF was named Contractor of the Year at Santos’ 2023 Director’s EHSS Awards for our work supporting offshore activities in Western Australia. This award recognised WPF for our collaborative and safe approach in supporting the Santos 2022 Harriet Joint Venture Plug and Abandonment (HJV P&A) campaign.
Engaged to provide a solution to gain safe access to the top of the sea pole to complete required works, our team specially designed and fabricated an aluminium gantry structure, inclusive of bespoke modular scaffold, which was able to stay erected without being impacted by adverse weather and tidal activities.
Reducing the requirement for a drill rig to be hired earlier than initially anticipated, this resulted in significant cost savings for our client, compared to traditional re-work methodology undertaken to complete similar scopes.
This efficiency project has reinforced WPF’s position as a key industry partner in the development of unique, fit-for-purpose solutions for complex offshore decommissioning scopes.
In-house designed and machined shearing tooling and hot-tapping components, amongst other bespoke tooling and consumable combinations were designed exclusively for safe scope completion.
- Remove navigation beacon and beacon mount to provide access to the wellhead top flange and ring groove.
- Inspection of top connection profile of wellhead including ring gasket groove (de-risk for rig arrival)
- Remediate ring groove with in-situ RTJ machining as required.
- Verify well head interface via pressure testing.
- Install ring gasket and protective cap on wellhead and temporary navigation beacon.
- Hot tap into 20” x 12 3/8” annulus through 2” bull plug in 21 ¼” casing head to confirm zero pressure in annulus.
- Removal of corroded annulus valve from casing spool eliminating integrity risk
